A Cat Affair
2003, May 29 - 11:44 p.m.

My brother finally called me today at 1:15 pm. After I called the school twice, however. I needed to know if he had left the key. The situation became more perilous when my dad called and we had a fight.

The fight was because of many things. Jamie had gotten rid of his savings account. I was getting rid of the phone. Dad was screwed over by his own children, blah, blah, blah. I mentioned that he had put himself in a position that left him compromised and his problems were his own fault.

He ruined his credit with Bell, he destroyed his bank account, he didn't save any of his money in case of any sort of emergency. Not my fault.

Then he informed me that the cats could stay because he needed a phone. Nope, he will not use them as a bargaining chip any longer. I was taking them; besides, the cats don't need a phone, Jamie did. It was the whole reason I put the bill in my name. For my brother. Now Jamie is being booted out of the house so good bye phone. That is it.

Then Dad calls back. He is leaving the house and will be keeping the cats. I don't think so.

When he hung up on me, I had a total fit. I screamed and wailed I can't take it anymore! again and again. I sobbed uncontrollably and very hard. I then composed myself and and called the school again to make sure Jamie had left the key in the hidden spot we had discussed. Since he had been escorted away by the police, I hadn't been sure the key would be there.

But when he called 1:15, he told me it was there and Brent and I could go ahead and get the cats. It was an overt operation. If Dad came home it would have been grave trouble for us. Especially me.

We got them out though. It was a bit challenging, they know that being carried out to a car always means something unplesant is about to transpire so they were finicky and struggling.

The ride up was full of howling meows and cries.

When they came into contact with Brent's cats for the first time there were issues. Hissing, growling, posturing and the like. All very tense. I think they'll be all right though. They seemed like they were trying to ignore one another when I left.

Brent is working nights this week so he took me home on the way to work. He'll be quitting tonight, thank God.

Now there is just one stressful day left this month. Jamie's move. He still has to pack. He may need police supervision to keep the peace. We're certain we'll need it for the move. God knows what he'll do. By he I mean Dad.

But we'll see how that goes. On a funnier note, I left the dirty catlitter box where it was. Dad can deal with it.

He also phoned my aunt Anne-Marie and uncle John to tell them he was calling the police on me for unlawful entry. I am not concerned. I was never told I couldn't come in, plus I had a key set aside for me from a resident of the house.

What a dingus. I can't wait until he is gone from my life.
